Some things which make us ‘us’...

People have been worshipping at Lickey Church for over 150 years. We are excited to be part of God’s ‘journeying’ people here in Lickey.

Statement of Values

FOUNDATIONAL BIBLICAL PASSAGES:

I Peter 2: 4-10

Christ the living stone; you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house

Psalm 127:1

Unless the Lord builds the house our labour is in vain

Matt 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. (A Beacon on the Hill)

Examples of Nehemiah, David and Gideon

KEY VALUES:

CELEBRATION…

God is Good and we are called to enjoy his gift of love and life

WORSHIP…

Our response to God as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in our hearts.

CREATIVITY…

Recognising God as creator and the capacity and potential for each human being to reflect God’s creativity.

HOSPITALITY & WELCOME…

Sharing food with joyful heart.

Generosity – welcoming new people.

INCLUSIVE & ACCESSIBLE…

Not only as far as the building is concerned but socially and spiritually, aware that all are equal and welcome and that when we do have different views we must learn to disagree well.

MISSION…

Our sharing in God’s reaching out, to declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light, to move from maintenance to mission – to see our part in the wider church worldwide.

WHOLE-HEARTEDNESS…

To challenge the half-heartedness and pick and mix nature of a post modern society.

PRAYER…

Unless the Lord builds the house our labour is in vain– prayer as the foundation for everything.

IDENTIFYING, ENABLING & USING GIFTS…

Recognising the range of gifts God gives to us all, valuing one another and moving into new ways of being church.

COMPASSION…

Demonstrating our faith in active love.

TAKING RISKS &
BEING FREE TO FAIL…

Creating a safe environment without fear of condemnation, a culture of trust and forgiveness, of openness and commitment.

‘ONE-ANOTHERING’…

‘love, bear with, forgive, greet, encourage, submit to, serve, instruct, help …one-another.’ These many New Testament instructions demonstrate our interdependence and our responsibilities to each other.
