On Sunday September 13th, almost exactly thirteen years after being licensed as vicar here, I had to give the following announcement: Charlotte, Dan, Millie and I wanted to share with you the news, that I have been appointed to the post of Director of World Mission in the Lichfield Diocese; a job which involves overseeing a number of Diocesan links overseas. (for more details see www.lichfield.anglican.org under News). Sadly for us as a family this means leaving my job at Lickey and Blackwell; something we will all find very hard. We are so grateful for the love and support we have received over these 13 years and the journeys we have shared together. Our final Sunday is likely to be Advent Sunday, November 29th. I will be licensed at a service Lichfield Cathedral on Saturday 9th January. We will will be informing you shortly of the next steps in terms of the interregnum and the process for appointing a new vicar here. In the meantime we would be grateful for your prayers as we don’t yet have a house to move into, but we are planning to rent or buy a house in Wolverhampton. At that welcoming service on September 16th 1996, I led the packed church at Lickey in singing the song 'Thuma Mina' from South Africa; with the verses ' Send me Jesus, Lead me Jesus, Fill me Jesus'.
